Mentorship, sponsorship, and coaching are essential to both training and career advancement in scientific and biomedical fields. However, not all faculty have access to high-quality mentorship. Effective mentors need tools, training, and self-awareness to provide optimal guidance and support.

"Strategies for Mentees"

This program includes a lecture on mentoring fundamentals with active learning exercises, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A. Topics covered include:

  • Choosing a mentor
  • Forming a mentorship team
  • Do's and don'ts for the mentee
  • Getting a sponsor
  • Giving feedback to mentors

Career Guidance from the Academy of Clinical Excellence (ACE)

The Academy of Clinical Excellence (ACE) Career Guidance and Advisory Service is a resource for faculty and trainees at any level who have questions about their careers or life at Columbia. Interested in global health, need advice regarding clinical research, or having trouble negotiating a work-related interpersonal problem? ACE can offer problem-directed guidance and mentoring.
