About 50 Haven Athletic Center

50 Haven Athletic Center supports fitness, recreation, and wellness for eligible members of the Columbia University Irving Medical Center community. The Athletic Center gives students, faculty, staff, and affiliates a convenient place to stay active near classrooms, offices, residences, and other campus resources.
As part of CUIMC’s campus resources, the Athletic Center helps make physical activity more accessible throughout the day. Members can use the center for independent workouts, swimming, fitness activities, and other opportunities that support healthy routines on campus.
The Athletic Center is designed to serve a wide range of fitness goals and experience levels, from quick workouts and regular training routines to recreational activity and general wellness. Whether you are new to exercise or maintaining an established routine, 50 Haven Athletic Center offers a campus based setting for movement, activity, and connection.

George Torres brings more than two decades of devoted service, in various capacities, to Columbia University Medical Center. As athletic manager, he manages the 50 Haven Ave. Athletic Center.

Savion Woodard
- Athletic Resource Provider, Haven Athletic Center
Savion Woodard serves as a lifeguard and front-desk personnel responsible for greeting, directing and answering inquiries for members of the Haven Athletic Center.
Savion graduated from Delaware State University a HBCU in Dover Delaware with a Bachelor of Science from the College of Business. His degree is in Sport Management. Since graduating he has worked as a coach for the Trevor Day School on Central Park West; and an operations assistant for the Madison Square Garden Company. Currently, he is the front desk person for Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s Athletic Center. Recently, he obtained his Lifeguard and CPR certification to further support his role with the Athletic Center.

What do I need to enter the center?
Members will need the following items for entrance into the Athletic Center:
- Valid CU ID or CUIMC ID
What are the hours?
Athletic Center Hours and pool schedules can vary. View our Open Hours, Pool Schedule, and Closures page for fulle details. Typically they are as follows:
- Athletic Center Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 6:00 am to 11:00 pm
- Friday: 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

What if the elevator is out of order to enter the athletic center?
If the elevator access is unavailable, please use the staircase next to the two main elevators.
What is expected of me as a member?
All members are expected to:
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the Columbia Community Health Compact
- Clean and disinfect any equipment before and after use
Can I get my partner or spouse a membership? How about a guest?
Yes, you can get your partner or spouse a membership. Yes, guest passes are currently available. Learn more on our memberships page.
Can I rent a towel or other equipment?
Yes. Equipment checkout is open at this time. You can also bring any equipment from home you would like to use.
