A variety of resources are available to support the work/lives and well-being of our faculty. Below are some of the key resources available. This is site is in development and new resources will be continually added.
The VP&S Early Career Faculty Caregiving Support for Professional Travel Fund
Eligible early-career faculty may receive funding to cover caregiving costs when traveling for professional conferences.
The CUIMC Parental Leave Policy for Faculty
Eligible faculty with appointments in one of the four health science schools can receive up to 13 weeks of paid parental leave. Learn more.
Columbia University Office of Work/Life
The Office of Work/Life offers a tremendous amount of resources to support the Columbia community. Some of the resources they offer include:
- Consultations and information on child care and schooling options
- Back-up care for caregiving needs
- Adult and elder care services
- Consultations and recommendations for NY Housing and relocation
- Breastfeeding support
- Wellness programs
Lactation Rooms
Columbia University provides Lactation Rooms to support nursing mothers returning to work, school or campus. Each room offers a clean, secure and private space to express breast milk. A list of lactation rooms on campus is available through the Office of Work/Life. To request access to lactation rooms, please contact the Office of Work/Life at 212-854-8019.

The mission of the CUIMC Office of Well-being is to foster collective well-being and resilience, contributing to an inclusive and compassionate culture of excellence for faculty, staff and students at CUIMC.

OMBUDS Office
The Ombuds Office offers a confidential place for students, faculty, staff or alumni to discuss workplace issues, academic concerns, issues relating to administrative paperwork and process, explanation and interpretation of policies and procedures, and many other problems.
