International Students and Scholars Office
The International Students and Scholars Office-CUIMC is a constituent team of the International Students and Scholars Office on the Morningside campus of Columbia University, and as such is the primary office responsible for international students, scholars, faculty and staff at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. ISSO-CUIMC ensures federal immigration compliance and provides immigration-related services to non-immigrant international students and scholars, faculty and staff throughout CUIMC. ISSO-CUIMC currently assists approximately 1,400 international scholars, faculty and staff, and approximately 600 international students.
The ISSO-CUIMC serves the international community which includes international students and scholars along with their families, who require assistance with their visa status in order to study or work at the Medical Center campus. ISSO-CUIMC also works closely with faculty and administrators to facilitate the visit of our international students and scholars while at CUIMC. The ISSO-CUIMC sponsors F-1, J-1, H-1B, O-1, E-3 and TN-1 visa statuses and prepares visa documentation for accompanying family members. All visa documentation for individuals working or studying at the Medical Center must be processed by the ISSO-CUIMC (with the exception of students in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, who should contact the ISSO on Morningside).
