Skills for Emotional Education and Development (SEED)
The CopeColumbia Skills for Emotional Education and Development (SEED) program is a skills training program focused on building and enhancing skills to manage emotions for individuals within our Columbia professional community .
The program includes 1:1 individual skills training sessions with a CopeColumbia faculty member and teaches evidence-based principles and strategies that can improve self-awareness and self-regulation, which are critical tools that help us communicate effectively and manage conflict. The facilitator-guided program was developed by CopeColumbia psychologists and utilizes evidence-based principles and techniques.
The skills training sessions will include:
- Education on emotions
- Learning to identify common triggers
- Developing appropriate tools to manage emotions and tolerate distress
- Interpersonal effectiveness
- Skills consolidation
All CUIMC faculty, staff, and postdoc colleagues are invited to participate. SEED is not treatment or therapy, but rather a 1:1 skills coaching model. Participation in the program is voluntary, free, and confidential. There is no billing and no documentation.
For questions and to enroll in the SEED program, please reach out to the CopeColumbia team via email to copecolumbia@cumc.columbia.edu.
Well-Being Leadership Program (for Managers)
Well-being in the workplace is not a universal concept—it demands a tailored approach that considers the distinct needs and circumstances of each individual. The Office of Well-being invites you to join us for a well-being leadership program for managers that offers an opportunity to explore the co-dependent dimensions of well-being and to learn how managers can lead and influence well-being while also taking care of themselves.
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the leader's role in creating a culture of well-being
- Develop strategies to support both personal and team well-being
- Transform wellness from an individual challenge to a collective priority
- Create actionable plans for implementing well-being practices in their teams
- Design sustainable approaches to integrate well-being into daily work routines
