NEWS

Today: Active Shooter Safety Training
CUIMC has joined with NewYork-Presbyterian and the New York City Police Department to offer safety training regarding active shooters. The first training—for non-clinical personnel—is today, June 15, in the Black Building’s Alumni Auditorium from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Attend in person or join here via Zoom (registration is not required). Additional sessions for non-clinical personnel will be offered in July.

Training sessions for clinical personnel will be offered by NYP on June 30 at 9 a.m., noon, and 5 p.m. in the Myrna L. Daniels Auditorium and by Zoom (more information to come).

CUIMC Surrogacy Benefit Helps Employee Become a Dad
CUIMC employee Justin Bernardo and his husband welcomed their son, Enzo, into the world last May after a long but ultimately rewarding surrogacy journey. Bernardo shared his gratitude for the CUIMC employee benefit that helped bring Enzo into their lives. Read more.

VP&S and Nursing Psychologist Discusses Gender Identity and Gender Literacy
Walter Bockting, PhD, professor of medical psychology (in Psychiatry and Nursing), leads Columbia’s Gender Identity Program, which opened in 2017 in the Department of Psychiatry. The program offers services ranging from psychotherapy and medication management to hormone therapy and surgery to help transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming children, adolescents, adults, and their families.
