Upcoming VP&S Open Forums

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you to those of you who were able to join me Monday morning for our first VP&S Open Forum. It was good to hear from Dr. McKiernan about ColumbiaDoctors and to receive an update from Dr. Taylor on the anti-racism initiative. I was also thrilled to share news of Roy and Diana Vagelos’ landmark gift to support early career physician-scientists and our graduate programs in the biomedical sciences. If you were not able to attend either in person or via Zoom, you can view a recording of Monday’s forum here.

I especially appreciated the opportunity on Monday to hear from all of you. I want as much feedback as possible, because it’s important to me that the strategic planning effort now underway meets your needs and aspirations. Your input will guide our priorities and measure our shared progress, and I want to be sure that your voices are heard as we plan for the future. These forums will be an important touchpoint for our community as we move ahead with the strategic planning process. Below is the schedule for the remainder of 2023. All gatherings will begin at 8 a.m. in the Alumni Auditorium.

  • June 5
  • September 11 (CUIMC open forum)
  • December 4

Invitations will follow as the dates draw nearer. If you missed the chance to attend this week’s forum, I hope you will be able to attend in June or will reach out to me directly with questions or feedback.

All my best,

Katrina Armstrong, MD
Dean of the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons
Executive Vice President for Health and Biomedical Sciences, Columbia University
