Peer-Support Services

We are here to support you. CopeColumbia peer-support services are available to all CUIMC faculty, staff, and postdocs. Sessions provide an opportunity for employees to talk about their experiences, ask questions, and obtain guidance and practical suggestions for coping and wellbeing from our psychiatry faculty. Services are confidential, virtual, and free of charge.

Our Support Services

Individual Time with CopeColumbia Faculty

Confidential and virtual one-on-one sessions with a faculty member from psychiatry focused on stress management and coping. These 30-minute sessions are meant to be practical and supportive, with an emphasis on enhancing resilience and providing guidance. Peer support is not a type of mental health treatment, such as therapy. If a need to pursue more formal mental health support is identified, we can assist you in accessing the right resources.

Peer Support Groups

Confidential department-specific peer support groups are facilitated by psychiatry faculty members (in-person or virtual). The 60-minute sessions focus on enhancing resilience, sharing experiences, strengthening social support, and coping in the face of the numerous challenges. These are not psychotherapy groups, and sessions will not be recorded. This is a confidential, peer-to-peer support process with two psychiatry faculty facilitating the process.

Educational Workshops

Customized sessions designed to support the well‑being of your team and strengthen resilience within your work environment. Each session is tailored to the unique needs and challenges of your group, ensuring content that is meaningful, relevant, and applicable. Available topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Navigating Uncertainty
  • Managing Trauma When Trauma is Ongoing
  • Validation as a Tool for Connection
  • Building Skills to Navigate Stress and Anxiety
