CUIMC Employees Recharge at Annual Appreciation Social

Hundreds of Columbia University Irving Medical Center employees and members of the Washington Heights community gathered to connect, cool down, and recharge at the annual Ice Cream Social on July 15. Over 6,000 frozen treats were given out during the employee appreciation event on Haven Plaza, organized by the CUIMC Events Office. In addition to ice cream, attendees had the chance to connect with colleagues over friendly lawn games, enjoy live music from a local jazz trio, and learn about upcoming opportunities, such as ways to help fund the fight against cancer.

CUIMC leadership, including James M. McKiernan, interim dean of VP&S, and Lou Baptista, chief well-being officer at CUIMC, helped distribute the frozen treats. The event also featured an information table for Velocity: Columbia’s Ride to End Cancer. This year, Velocity is offering YourWay, a model for participants to help raise funds for cancer research and care programs with the activity of their choosing.
