Timothy Crimmins, MD Named to New Roles

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to share that Timothy Crimmins, MD, chief medical information officer (CMIO) of ColumbiaDoctors, will take on the new roles of deputy chief executive officer of ColumbiaDoctors and deputy vice dean for clinical affairs of the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, effective immediately.

In these new roles, Dr. Crimmins will work closely with me, VP&S, and ColumbiaDoctors leadership to support the growth of our faculty practice; meet the needs of our clinicians and patients; and further strengthen our partnership with NewYork-Presbyterian to achieve shared institutional goals. Dr. Crimmins will continue to serve as CMIO of ColumbiaDoctors, a role he has held since 2015, to ensure that clinical information systems and technology best support our patients, care teams, and the educational and research missions.

Dr. Crimmins, associate professor of medicine, joined Columbia in 2007 and serves as medical director of the Non-Invasive Vascular Imaging Lab, which focuses on ultrasound use for the diagnosis of vascular disorders. Throughout his career at Columbia, Dr. Crimmins has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient-centered care and to improving the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of care through clinical, operational, and technological innovation. His clinical interests include vascular medicine, non-invasive vascular diagnosis, and general internal medicine.

After receiving his BS and MD degrees from the George Washington University, Dr. Crimmins completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Washington and training in vascular medicine at Columbia University.

Dr. Crimmins has been a trusted colleague and collaborator, helping move the clinical mission of VP&S forward for many years. I look forward to continuing to work with him closely to support our clinical practice. Please join me in congratulating him on his new roles.

Sincerely,

James McKiernan, MD
