Save the Date: Science Afternoons – Charting the Future of Discovery in Fundamental Biomedical Research at VP&S

Please join our VP&S basic science departments and institutes for a series of Science Afternoons where they will share their latest science and vision for the future. These events are part of a year-long scientific prioritization process that the basic science departments are undertaking to ensure that we continue to advance the cutting edge of discovery, inform our investments in space, technology and other resources, and facilitate collaboration and coordination across VP&S. They are designed to be productive and intellectually engaging, and we strongly encourage broad participation from our scientific research community.

The first two of these events will be held this June and highlight the Department of Genetics and Development, and the Institute for Cancer Genetics. Each event will feature several faculty presentations followed by a discussion facilitated by the department chair and including Dean Armstrong, other department chairs, faculty, and external scientific advisors. The information is provided below, and I hope to see you there.

  • Thursday, June 22, 2023, noon-4 p.m.: Department of Genetics and Development
  • Monday, June 26, 2023, noon-4 p.m.: Institute for Cancer Genetics
  • Location: School of Nursing, 7th floor event space
  • Invited participants: All members of the VP&S scientific community: faculty, researchers, and students. Additional details to come.
  • Receptions: Following both Science Afternoons, 5-6 p.m.

More information about redesigning our scientific research enterprise is available in this March 8 communication.

All my best,
