Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center Dedication

Heralding a new campus era for Columbia University Medical Center, the Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center will be dedicated on Thursday evening, June 9. The dedication program ceremony can be viewed here at 6:30 P.M.

The Roy and Diana Vagelos Education Center provides advanced learning resources for medical and graduate students to achieve their potential as tomorrow’s top clinicians and biomedical scientists. As the College of Physicians and Surgeons (P&S) approaches its 250th anniversary, this state-of-the-art building will nurture students’ growth into leaders of academic medicine—ensuring Columbia’s lasting strength in patient care, research, and medical education for the next quarter-millennium.

The innovative, environmentally sustainable Vagelos Education Center was designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, the minds behind the stunning recent update of Lincoln Center, in collaboration with Gensler as executive architect. Overlooking the Hudson River, the 14-floor building incorporates 100,000 square feet of high-tech, flexible classroom space. This learning space includes a world-class simulation center (13,200 square feet), which will support elite training in clinical and surgical skills through simulation-based medical education.
