Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), along with NewYork-Presbyterian and local partners, hosted Healthy Haven, a free community health and wellness event, Saturday in Haven Plaza.

About 600 people turned out for a variety of sessions, trainings, and presentations conducted by faculty and staff. Events included wellness workshops on tobacco and e-cigarette cessation, tai chi classes, and glucose and cholesterol screenings. Some attendees made appointments for cancer screenings. Others participated in an opioid overdose training and received a free kit containing naloxone, the overdose-reversing drug. Additionally, participants received hands-only CPR training along with a kit.

Healthy Haven was organized by CUIMC’s Office of Community Service Programs.
