The VP&S Office of Faculty Affairs has provided this list of full-time faculty who joined the medical school in December 2023 and January 2024.

  • Philippe J. Batut, PhD, Genetics & Development: Batut investigates the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that control gene expression in early embryos. His research interests include the regulatory roles of non-coding RNAs and the spatial organization of genomes within the cell nucleus.
  • Michael A. Feuerstein, MD, Urology: Feuerstein is a urologic oncologist specializing in the treatment of prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers. His research interests include improving quality of care and quality of life for urologic cancer patients.
  • Alexandra Gutierrez, MD, Medicine
  • Tatjana Ivanova, PhD, Radiation Oncology: Ivanova is an ABR-certified medical physicist. Her research interests include adaptive radiotherapy, knowledge-based treatment planning, and imaging dose optimization.
  • Salman S. Khan, MD, Medicine: Khan is an adult infectious diseases physician who specializes in the diagnosis and management of infections in immunocompromised patients, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant recipients.
  • Michal Levo, PhD, Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics: Levo studies mechanisms of gene regulation. Her lab uses a combination of experimental and computational approaches to explore how genomes instruct dynamic gene activity that underlies cell type specification during development.
  • Annelise Lupica, MD, Emergency Medicine
  • Yael Monselise, LCSW, Psychiatry
  • Aimee Sue Payne, MD, PhD, Dermatology: Payne is a dermatologist who specializes in the care of patients with pemphigus and pemphigoid, autoimmune blistering diseases of the skin. Her research program focuses on mechanisms and treatments of autoimmunity, with particular focus on engineering novel precision cellular immunotherapies for autoimmunity in dogs and humans.
  • Daniel Shepshelovich, MD, Medicine: Shepshelovich is an expert on evidence-based medicine for hospitalized medical patients and the ways medical evidence is collected and interpreted by medical professional societies and regulators. His overarching career goals are to contribute to the scientific foundations of medicine, provide professional and compassionate patient care, and help train the next generation of academic hospitalists.
  • Michael J. Urban, OTD, Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine: Urban is an occupational therapist who serves as the speaker to the representative assembly and board member of the American Occupational Therapy Association. He has expertise in treating people with ALS, autism, polytrauma, and other neurological, orthopedic, and mental health disorders.
