New VP&S Faculty

The VP&S Office of Faculty Affairs has provided this list of full-time faculty who joined the medical school in July 2023: 

  • Cary Aarons, MD, Surgery: Aarons is interested in the management of the full spectrum of benign and malignant colorectal diseases. He also is program director for the general surgery residency program and vice chair of education for the Department of Surgery. He has a master’s degree in medical education. 
  • Kristin Acus, MD, Emergency Medicine: Acus recently completed an emergency critical care and resuscitation fellowship, and her focuses include addressing the need to provide ICU-level care to patients who are boarding in the emergency department.

  • Natalie Berger, MD, Medicine: Berger joined the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology and is also associate director of breast medical oncology at NYP-Hudson Valley Hospital.

  • Lauren Fleig, DO, Center for Family & Community Medicine: Fleig’s career as a social worker was the foundation for her interest in primary care and preventive medicine, with special interests in women’s health and LGBTQ+ primary care.   
  • Roman Fleysher, PhD, Radiology: Fleysher’s physics interest include measurement principles of MRI, image quality optimization, and image analysis and their applications to the study of the human brain in conjunction with cognitive, clinical, demographic, and other measurements.   
  • Alejandro Gru, MD, Dermatology: Gru is director of dermatopathology in the Department of Dermatology.
  • Mark Hanna, MD, Emergency Medicine  
  • Yassmin Hegazy, MD, Medicine: Hegazy is a hospitalist at NewYork-Presbyterian.   
  • Benjamin Hong, MD, Emergency Medicine
  • Sana Jadallah, MD, Pathology & Cell Biology: Jadallah is a board-certified pathologist in anatomic and clinical pathology with expertise in the surgical pathology of tumors of the genitourinary system. She focuses on neoplastic urologic pathology.

  • Zachary Mannes, PhD, Emergency Medicine: Mannes is an epidemiology faculty member in emergency medicine.  
  • Brendan McDonnell, MD, PhD, Obstetrics & Gynecology: McDonnell, an obstetrician/gynecologist at Allen Hospital, has a special interest in labor and delivery, fetal anomalies, and genomics.

  • Raghuram Posham, MD, Radiology: Posham specializes in vascular and interventional radiology. His research interests include trans-radial arterial access, peripheral arterial disease interventions, and complex inferior vena cava filter retrieval techniques.  
  • Anne Rohlfing, MD, Medicine: Rohlfing, an internist who specializes in hospice and palliative medicine, attends primarily in the outpatient palliative care clinic in addition to time on the consult service. 
  • Elizabeth Roll, MD, Ophthalmology   
  • Vinay Saggar, MD, Emergency Medicine: Saggar's interests include physician wellness and resilience, resident and physician assistant education, simulation, ultrasound, quality improvement, telemedicine, and virtual reality research.   
  • Lilian Salinas, PhD, Neurology: Salinas has joined the clinical neuropsychology service within the Division of Cognitive Neuroscience. Her clinical and research interests include assessment of cognition and behavior in different neurological conditions, as well as racial and ethnic disparities in neuropsychological assessment and care of neurological populations. She provides neuropsychological assessment services in English and Spanish.

  • Lucy Xu, MD, Psychiatry: Xu is a psychiatrist in the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program at NYP/Columbia. 
  • Lindsay Young, MD, Radiology: Young is an interventional radiologist with expertise in minimally invasive procedures. She has authored research articles on topics including management of complex hepatocellular carcinoma, use of liquid embolic for peripheral arterial applications, and radial access techniques for peripheral arterial interventions.
