Farmers Market Returns to 168th and Fort Washington

Greenmarket, GrowNYC’s network of farmers markets, returns to 168th Street and Fort Washington Avenue on Tuesdays starting June 4.

Fort Washington Greenmarket hours will be 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. Faculty, staff, and students of Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and NewYork-Presbyterian, local residents, and staff of other area businesses can enjoy fresh locally grown produce, pastries, and other treats at the market. Each week, cooking demonstrations, nutritional information, children’s games, and other events will be showcased in the market’s information tent.

From June 26 until Sept. 30, Cornell Cooperative Extension will conduct weekly bilingual nutrition education workshops and cooking demonstrations.

The final day of the market this year is Nov. 26. To find out more about the farmers who will participate, or for general information, visit the market’s website.

Greenmarket was founded in 1976 to promote regional agriculture by providing small family farms the opportunity to sell their locally grown products directly to consumers and to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, most nutritious locally grown food the region has to offer.
