ColumbiaDoctors to Lease 120,000 Square Feet at 1290 Avenue of the Americas

ColumbiaDoctors, the faculty medical practice of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, has agreed to lease 120,000 square feet at 1290 Avenue of the Americas. The term of the lease is 25 years, and ColumbiaDoctors is expected to take occupancy in the first quarter of 2013.

The new location, adjacent to Rockefeller Center, will replace the existing ColumbiaDoctors Eastside practice, 16 East 60th Street, at Madison Avenue. It will be built out over the next year and will include patient conveniences such as an entrance and elevators for the exclusive use of Columbia patients.

ColumbiaDoctors is one of the largest medical group practices in the Northeast, comprised of approximately 1,200 physician faculty members in 80 specialties and subspecialties. In addition to their outpatient practices, ColumbiaDoctors are the physicians of NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.

“Our midtown offices make the outstanding care provided by ColumbiaDoctors within easy reach of people who live or work anywhere in Manhattan and the Greater New York area,” says Louis U. Bigliani, MD, president of Columbia Doctors and chair of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

The new location includes space for all of the services currently offered at the East 60th Street and room for further expansion, says Mark McDougle, chief operating officer of Columbia University Medical Center.

“With our partners at NewYork-Presbyterian, we will be able to provide the clinical services that our patients need in a comfortable, convenient place,” says McDougle. “The long-term lease demonstrates our commitment to serving all of our patients, both midtown and at our main campus in Washington Heights.”
