Columbia Researchers Study PTSD from Different Angles

Recent focus on veterans’ health care has brought post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)—a condition suffered by many of the nation’s more than 20 million veterans as well as other trauma victims—into the national spotlight.

But the discussion about PTSD raises far more questions than answers. Is one person more vulnerable to the disorder than another, and why? What is the relationship of PTSD to other physical, mental health, and substance-abuse issues? And how do we know if treatment for PTSD is working? Or are we even measuring it?

Columbia's public health researchers are studying these questions and more. Read this roundup of influential work being done at the Mailman School of Public Health.
