Columbia Primary Care Now Open in Tarrytown

Columbia Primary Care opened a new practice in Tarrytown this summer, eliminating a hurdle to accessing high-quality care for patients in Westchester County.

The new primary care practice—designed to take care of whole families, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors—is located next to the ColumbiaDoctors multispecialty practice at 155 White Plains Road, just off I-287.

“We’ve had a primary care presence in Tarrytown for 18 months and we know the demand is there for more providers and more appointments,” says David Buchholz, MD, senior founding medical director of Columbia Primary Care.

The model employed by Columbia Primary Care focuses on caring for patients holistically, partnering with each patient to manage any chronic illnesses or to maintain health.

“This philosophy includes caring for patients’ mental health, and that’s why we have an embedded behavioral health program,” Buchholz says. Primary care patients with depression or anxiety do not have to look for help elsewhere and can receive care from an in-house behavioral health specialist at the Tarrytown office. Specialists for ADHD and substance use disorders are planned.

Columbia Primary Care’s scheduling model strives to provide same- or next-day appointments, regardless of chief complaint, so that patients can see their own primary care provider.

The Tarrytown practice is the fifth Columbia Primary Care location to open since 2020, joining practices in Washington Heights, Midtown, Morningside, and Manhattan Valley.

“We are so pleased to expand capacity to better serve the Tarrytown and Westchester communities, including our own Columbia team members,” Buchholz says.
