Children With Diabetes Exchange Halloween Candy For Toys At Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center Party

NEW YORK, November 2, 2006 -- As a holiday that centers around collecting candy, Halloween could be tough for kids with diabetes who need to carefully watch their carbohydrate intake. So the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University Medical Center hosted its annual Halloween party on Nov. 1, where costumed kids traded in their sugary trick-or-treating loot for toys. The toys were donated with the help of RussĀ® Toys and the candy that was collected will be sent to US troops abroad. (Photos by Charles Manley)
