Appointment of Diana Mejia as VP for Student and Campus Services

Dear Colleagues,

In the fall when we announced the creation of a new senior administrative position at the medical center, Vice President for Student and Campus Services, it was with the goal of finding a leader and creating an office to better support our students, create a more inclusive culture, and elevate the well-being of fellow community members. Today, we are pleased to announce that with the appointment of your colleague Diana I. Mejia to this position, we have taken an important step in that direction. The members of the search committee deserve our gratitude for the time and attention they devoted to this successful search process.

Diana is widely admired throughout CUIMC for her broad experience and the thoughtful leadership she provides, making her well suited to oversee housing, the athletic center at 50 Haven, classroom scheduling and support, Student Health on Haven, and other student services. She will also be responsible for the library, events management, the Faculty Club, and catering services. In partnership with our Morningside colleagues, Diana will join in managing student administrative services. She will report to Dr. Armstrong.

Diana is a true Columbian. Across more than 23 years at the medical center she has served in many significant roles, including for ten years as associate dean for operations management at the Mailman School of Public Health, always steadily advancing in her career to eventually become CUIMC’s assistant vice president for campus operations and housing services. Diana holds three master’s degrees: in construction administration and in real estate development, both from Columbia, and a degree in city planning from MIT.

For our many colleagues who will be working with Diana in her new capacity, please know that preserving the continuity of the complex projects now in progress is a top priority of ours and already has received substantial attention.

Please join us in congratulating Diana and wishing her the best as CUIMC’s inaugural Vice President for Student and Campus Services.

Sincerely,

Katrina Armstrong, MD
