Accountability

While Hadden’s misconduct, arrest, prosecution, and sentencing are widely known, and Columbia has announced its settlements with more than 220 survivors, Columbia did not directly reach out to Hadden’s patients about his crimes until recently. The University has now undertaken actions intended to correct this failure, repair the harm that has been done, and ensure we are fulfilling the high ideals of Columbia and the medical profession. Survivors of Hadden’s abuse need to know they are not alone. We regret the impact of our handling of this matter on survivors and on our entire community. Earning our patients’ trust is paramount to all we do.
