Sunil Agrawal, PhD receives two awards from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers

Dr. Sunil Agrawal, a professor of mechanical engineering at Columbia University, receives two awards from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for the year 2016.

Dr. Agrawal was awarded the Machine Design Award  for his innovative work on his projects "Gait Training Exoskeletons", for stroke survivors, and "Pediatric Mobility Robots," for the training of developmentally delayed infants and toddlers. Research efforts have been funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 and National Science Foundation (NSF) grants.

The ASME awarded Dr. Agrawal the Mechanisms and Robotics Award as a lifetime achievement award for contributions to robotics and mechanisms design throughout his career.

The last professor from Columbia University to receive either award was Professor Ferdinand Freudenstein who received the Machine Desing Award in 1972 and the Mechanisms and Robotics Award in 1978.
